Preamble
We were born out of Providence when it laid host to a strong Not Red Don't Shoot (NRDS) coalition giving room for day travellers and others to explore null security space. Back then we identified with the anti-pirate principles that followed NRDS before there was such a thing as pirate faction taking part in Faction Warfare. But NRDS space does not exist anymore, and anti-pirate has gotten multiple meanings.
We, as an alliance, have also been through multiple transformations, but throughout we are trying to stick to a strong set of core principles and moral values. Pax Ludos is our way of documenting these for all to see alongside the core ways we operate as an alliance to stay aligned with these values.
Article I: Foundational Principles
1.1: We are welcoming to all skill levels and types of capsuleers. It should be possible to be part of The Republic regardless of clone status and real life commitments.
1.2: We build strong communities around shared interests, where each member has a chance to play their part and make an impact.
1.3: We design our alliance around collaboration towards common goals with all corporations having their individual strengths supplementing the alliance at large.
Article II: Rules of Engagement
2.1: We believe in the NRDS movement and are aiming for our Rules of Engagement to reflect these, while still not being naive.
2.2: We consider hostile actions against other players being tackling, ransoming, baiting, or in other ways trying to start a fight.
2.3: Our capsuleers have the right to defend themselves in any space should they be on the receiving end of hostile actions.
Article III: Diplomacy and External Relations
3.1: We engage in all diplomatic discussions with an open mind and in the search for mutual gain. Positive standings are not assigned without a prior negotiated agreement.
3.2: Diplomatic issues caused by members of The Republic are first sought resolved by their respective corporation CEO in accordance with existing diplomatic policy. If this fails, the dispute is escalated to an alliance diplomat, and lastly the office of the executor.
Article IV: Internal Affairs
4.1: We aim to protect The Republic against our adversaries through counterintelligence, restrictive access and overall operational security measures.
4.2: Each corporation and its CEO and directors are expected to maintain operational security of alliance operations at all times and ensure regular audits of their members.
4.3: The executor appoints at all times a central alliance counterintelligence director, who handles these operations centrally for the alliance.
4.4: All capsuleers in The Republic are expected to adhere by Pax Ludos, Rules of Engagement, Community Guidelines, IA Guidelines, and Diplomatic Policy.
Article V: Violations & Enforcement
5.1: Violations of Pax Ludos and its accompanying policies can be enforced by CEOs and directors in each member corporation. Alternatively, the alliance executor and alliance directors may also enforce these in any member corporation.
5.2: Disciplinary processes should allow for rebuttal where possible, but also be handled swiftly in relation to the alliance operational security.
5.3: The internal affairs directorate is empowered to audit and monitor violations in all member corporations of the alliance.
Article VI: Governance
6.1: The alliance is overseen by its Board of Directors, whom are the ultimate authority in any alliance-related matter.
6.2: The Board of Directors consists of the executor corporations appointed alliance directors and select CEO from corporations with more than 75 members.
6.3: Decisions by the Board of Directors are decided by simple majority with the executors vote being the decider in case of a tie.
6.4: The Board of Directors are adviced by the Council of CEOs who are briefed on alliance related matters and upcoming decisions on the direction.
6.5: Day to day operations are handled at the discretion of the alliance executor and the alliance directors.
6.6: Wherever possible, there should be transparency in decision making and the opportunity for members to voice their input and concerns.
Article VII: Amendments
7.1: Pax Ludos is a living document, which can be amended to reflect future changes of the universe, our alliance, and the people in it.
7.2: Any amendments to Pax Ludos, Rules of Engagement, IA Guidelines, Community Policy and Diplomatic Policy shall be passed by a majority of The Republic's Board of Directors in accordance with the governance model of the alliance.
